Bittersweet... This was definitely how I would describe our past weekend. Last Wednesday my parents received a phone call that my Dad's brother Rick's wife Tammy had passed away. We had known that she was sick for a while but still at the age of 51 it was pretty unexpected. We drove up to Salt Lake to go to the funeral and be with family. My Aunt Carol & cousin Mandy drove over from Colorado to be there for Rick and the kids - it was really good to see them. We got to catch up with Rick his son Skyler & daughter Brittney as well as Carol, Mandy, Robert, Raquel and their kids. As hard as funerals are they sure do a lot to bring a family back together. We go far too long without seeing/spending time with the ones we love and occasions like this bring us back to reality.
After the funeral and graveside service were over we called my Uncle Steve who was in Provo watching my cousin Trenton wrestle. We had missed the wrestling matches due to the funeral but were able to make it in time for the awards ceremony. Trenton won 3rd place in state for his weight division and we were all VERY excited for him. He did amazing and was extremely excited that he did so well. It was great to get to visit with that side of the family as well and we're very proud of him.
"Life is short, enjoy it. Make memories with family while you can, they won't always be there."
