This past weekend we took our "Annual" fall trip to the zoo. (I say Annual because we just decided recently that this is a very good idea to do every fall hopefully we can keep it up!) It was Kambri, Kaylee & Kimber's first trip to the zoo. :) The kids absolutely loved it - the monkey's were a HUGE hit I think the kids loved them more than anything. I was lucky and thought ahead before we took our trip and invited my best friend Steph and her family to join us! They were able to make it and it was good getting all our kids together so they could hang out - it doesn't happen nearly often enough.
Shari, Karen, my mom & Shari's kids were saving us seats in the bird show when Steph & her family got there me & my kids went to the front entrance to meet up with them and they ended up not letting us go into the bird show. So we wandered around while they did that and after the bird show we all met up for lunch and headed off again. We got separated from the group again and Addi, Kambri & I went into the Reptile exhibit and wandered around well when we got out I was putting the kids back in the stroller and all of the sudden Addi screamed bloody murder! I was like Addi what the heck happened?! She's holding out her hand and screaming and I look and realize a bee had stung her - I didn't have anything to pull out the stinger so I just used my fingernail to get it out. Since that was the first time she'd ever been stung I hurried and gave her a dose of Benadryl (luckily I had a whole bottle!) and had her put a cold drink on top of it. I then found my mom and gave Addi a tylenol and a lady that works at the zoo overheard us talking about the sting and got me some cream to put on it. Then Karen remembered the penny trick and Addi put the penny on top of it - I'm not sure what worked exactly or if it was the combination of everything but that bee sting went away faster than any I've ever seen before. Within 2 hours you couldn't even tell she'd ever been stung.
All in all it was a very fun trip - thanks Mom for making it happen! Thanks, Shari, Karen & kids for coming along and thanks Steph for coming to see us it made it very worthwhile!!
