Well I honestly didn't think I would be writing my birth story for another 7 days but my little girl had other plans for me so here is the ever fascinating story of bringing my little one into the world. :)
On Saturday July 13th Jake & I got the kids up and ready and took them to breakfast at the Parowan Cafe. We had been debating on what we wanted to do for the day... whether it be going up the mountain or to take Addi to ride her new horse. We finally settled on letting Addi ride her new horse and headed home to load up riding gear and make sure we were ready. We loaded up the horses and headed to the arena, it had been storming off and on for the last 3 days and was supposed to continue being stormy for at least another 5-6 days. So needless to say it was hot, muggy & I was swollen up like a water balloon! Jake & McKade helped the girls ride horses around the Arena while I moved from bench to bench trying to find a comfortable place to sit. After about 45 minutes I realized I was just very uncomfortable all the way around sitting or not and it started down pouring so we loaded the horses back up and headed home. I started having contractions but they were pretty infrequent so I just chalked them up to the usual stuff I had been dealing with for MONTHS now. A few of Jake's co-workers were having a small get together for his birthday and since I wasn't really feeling up to it I decided to just let Jake & McKade go so I could get some rest. I dropped them off at his friends house and headed to go grocery shopping - by this time my contractions were really intense but I was trying to brush them off so the kids wouldn't see I was in pain. My parents came to Wal-Mart to see the girls and ended up being a huge help because I could barely even walk by that point in time. After we got the grocery shopping done me & the kids headed home where Addi was seriously the most amazing help I have ever had. She packed in all of the groceries, helped me put everything away, helped me put pajamas on Kam, helped me put hot packs on my back and just all around made sure I was taken care of. I did not sleep at all that not I tossed and turned and just could not get comfortable. I started timing my contractions about 5 AM Sunday morning - they were 2 to 3 minutes apart but were inconsistent on the length. So I figured that was still inconsistent enough that if I went in they would just send me home... and well I really didn't want to pay for that. Jake kept checking on me and I told him I was fine there was nothing we could do about it, it was just part of the process. Well after consistently feeling my contractions until about 4 PM I decided 24 hours of contractions was beyond plenty for me to handle. I was tired... I was sore... and I just wanted some relief! Finally I told Jake help me pack my bag we are going in... I don't care if they send me home just as long as they give me some muscle relaxers to make all of this pain go away will be good enough for me. Addi was so excited she basically packed everyone's bags, packed everything out to the car and into the car. She was hurrying everyone along because she just knew "today is the day!" I called my parents who were in church and cried to my mom and asked her to come down and be with me - they were both so excited they beat us to the hospital. I was having contractions so bad that I couldn't even walk into the hospital they had to get me a wheelchair and wheel me in. They hooked me up to the monitors and got me all set up to time everything before they decided what to do. My contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and were between 1-2 minutes long. They just kept getting closer together and more intense while I was there. The nurse called Dr Sanders and he said "Let's give her the medication to stop her contractions and send her home if we can, I'd like that baby to continue cooking for another 3-4 days." I was in so much pain it wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear but it was exactly what I was expecting, not only that but I had a very good plan with my scheduled c-section as opposed to one on the fly! They gave me the medicine to stop my contractions and checked me to make sure I wasn't dilating. Well I was only between 40-50% effaced and not even dilated to a 1 when they gave me the medication so we thought for certain we were going home. About an hour later the medicine had not worked (For the 1st time in my life) my contractions were still the same 2-3 minutes apart just weren't as intense. So the nurse checked me again and this time I was 100% effaced and dilated to a 1 almost a 2. So she told me I'm calling Dr Sanders and we're going to have a baby tonight! I was actually so shocked I started crying because I was so prepared for them to send me home I had no idea they were actually going to take her that day! Addi was so elated she could hardly contain it her and Kam both gave me kisses about every 30 seconds because they were both so excited to see their sister and worried about me! There were so many mixed emotions running through that room and I was so grateful that my parents, Randy, Jake & both the girls were there through the entire thing it made the day so special for me. My dad gave me a blessing which was a huge relief and was the first time I wasn't completely racked with nerves going into the operating room. The Anestheseologist was incredible and he was the very first person to get my spinal in with one try and very minimal pain. My nurses were amazing and they were all so comforting to me and made sure I was well taken care of I couldn't have asked for better staff! Matt & Shari came down with the kids as soon as they heard and Lauren ran to my house got my camera and stayed the entire time. It's so surreal knowing how many people support me and love me thank you everyone for that! Things went so quickly once I was wheeled back to the operating room and after a conversation I had with Jake and my mom I realized that there is a big portion of the surgery that I honestly don't remember at all. (Hopefully I didn't say anything crazy during that time... hahaha) That sweet baby definitely came into this world on her own time schedule and made everyone so happy! Addi has loved every minute of her being here she has such an incredible bond with her already it's unbelievable. Everytime Aria hears Addi's voice she immediately turns to where she is, she stops crying when she holds her and she loves Addi's lullaby's that she sings to her. Addi has been such a great help she changes diapers, helps bathe her, helps get her dressed and feeds her every opportunity she can. It's going to be a big change when Addi goes back to school in just a few weeks - but I'm glad we have some downtime together before that happens.
I just want to tell everyone Thank you all so much for your love and support it really means a lot to me to have so many supportive family members and friends. Everyone who showed up, called, texted, FB'd etc. to check on me and make sure I was ok and we were all ok I am so grateful to you and appreciate it more than you know! I will blow up the rest of this extremely long post with the cutest pictures of Aria :) enjoy!
