Kite Festival

Last Saturday was the annual Lion's Club Kite Festival. Addi has been reading for the last 4 months to earn her kite - she had to read a total of 600 minutes to earn it. I'm proud to say she had 1,005 minutes and she was able to get her kite! She picked a super cool kite... and then changed her mind and picked the Peace Sign kite - which she calls the "Q" sign for some reason. Anyways, it didn't have much structure so it would NOT fly much above our heads, and it was an above average windy day in Cedar. After we attempted to fly her kite for a little while we went over to check out the Fire Truck and the K-9 Unit she of course loved petting the dogs and found one that looked just like Grizz. We went to the Home Depot kids' workshop where she got a cool apron and was able to build a bug catcher - they had a lot of different wood projects to put together, a planter, an airplane, a jewelry box and a bug catcher. Of course she would pick the bug catcher! She thought it was so much fun having Dad help her hammer and put it all together - and she has used it every day since!
